The Chaplain is a full member of the health care team who helps meet the spiritual needs, including pastoral counseling of patients, residents, clients, staff, families, and physicians of the St. Francis Healthcare System. Chaplains are available to persons of all ages from 0 to 100+. Specifically, the chaplain, through professional training, is a spiritual co-journeyer. The Chaplain responds compassionately, offering assistance in coping with experiences and enhancing well being, especially spiritual well being.

Requires: Four-year College Degree - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in pastoral care, visiting the sick, attending to the spiritual needs of patients and families, knowledge or training in "Caring for the Caregiver". The Chaplain has completed a curriculum of theological classes, competencies in spiritual care for persons of all ages. At least one CPE Unit is expected. Minimum 2 years experience. One year of pastoral experience and good standing in the Church through ecclesiastical endorsement. Effective interpersonal and consulting skills.
Prayer leadership skills. Ability to articulate the Ethical Religious directives for Catholic Healthcare Facilities. Demonstrates effective problem solving, conflict management, and team building skills. Demonstrates computer competency in word processing and patient census database system.
