Hawaii Architect & Engineering Careers Building Up Steam

Hawaii architect jobs and opportunities for engineers are looking at a future ahead that should hold a lot of promise. Things have been up and down for many in this area, due in part to the same fluctuations that have affected the construction industry. That looks to be finally straightening out, though.

For the years leading up to 2020, Architect jobs in Hawaii are predicted to go up by 11%. 60 or more additional seats at those Island drafting tables will be created, in other words. That's not all. This is one more sign that Honolulu's dominance isn't pervasive in the 21st Century. Architect positions on Maui, the Big Island & Kauai will see better general growth than Oahu for these careers. Something is definitely happening on the Neighbor Islands.

Keep in mind that the above does not include jobs for Hawaii landscape architects. That's not because of any problems they may have looming ahead. Their numbers will be up 10% by that same 2020 deadline from the State Department of Labor study.

What about our engineers? Generally they have the same story to tell. In fact Hawaii civil engineer positions are one of the Islands' 'Hot 25 Demand Occupations' for the 2010 to 2020 decade. They are needed and needed now. To be specific they will need 230 more of them during this time. Though the majority will be engineering jobs on Oahu, civil engineering jobs on Maui, Kauai & the Big Island will actually grow by much higher rates. That's good news across the board.

Electrical engineers and mechanical engineers will have a lower rate of growth, at 5% and 6% respectively. That's not as large as architects and civil engineers, but it is something to count on for the future.

Keep in mind that there are related jobs in our Hawaii construction jobs section, so there are more out there than what you see here. Hawaii Job Engine has been putting many people to work and we're sure we can find the right place for you as well!
